Gallery/Exhibition: BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art, Gateshead.
With this being my first visit to the BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art, I was skeptical, yet intrigued by what would be shown there, many of my experiences with contemporary art galleries have been somewhat dissapointing, feeling unimpressed or being clouded with the thought that most contemporary work does not intice or inspire me, this all changed once I had viewed some of the exhibitions. I was incredibly impressed by Rodney Graham's "That's Not Me" Exhibition, his use of high-resolution photography and analogue film enticed me because of my interest in these mediums, every piece was completely different in it's own right.
I had a very strong feeling of aspiration from viewing Graham's work, especially the film/video art that incorporated the use of sound, with wireless headsets, synched to a soundtrack that made the experience even more powerful, being set in a barely-lit, large room, with seats for viewing certain pieces of work, the audio seemed to synch up with every piece uniquely, creating a different experience each time, I wish to come back to this gallery again in the near-future to see what it has to offer, as I was incredibly impressed by this trip.
