CREATIVE LIVES: Annette Knol, Joe Woodhouse, Natalie Gale.
This artist talk was incredibly important to me and my professional practice, as I am hoping to pursue a career in teaching, there were many great points made during this event that will benefit me greatly. Joe Woodhouse's approach of incorporating his teaching into his pieces of work was an interesting concept and I think it worked well.
"Embrace the uncertain, putting yourself out of your comfort zone is how you develop."
I also enjoyed Annette Knol's presentation, the "Printeretto" website she created and her ability to create varied pieces of work with dynamic concepts was a breath of fresh air for me, as I feel that a lot of print work is too similar and the medium seems over-saturated. She has a very strong work ethic, and makes art she wants to make, rather than compromising her practice for the sake of the audience, I respect that a lot.
"You are giving back, but you will also take in a lot on your journey as a teacher."
