Riding The Wave: Applying Sound to Painting.
This week I wanted to experiment more with painting and the ways I can combine the sound and landscape into a piece. The best way to start this was to paint the landscape, I felt it was fitting to use more recyclable materials I collected to incorporate some natural shapes and textures. When painting I used the palette knife to flatten the paint and create some interesting textures, which kind of mirrored the veins of the leaf.
I also experimented with how the audience could interact with this piece (public context) and tried using PVA glue to paint the audio wave, that could be felt and would help interpret the sound possibly. I also included a QR code to the sound itself so those who were struggling or just "didn't get it" could listen along to viewing the piece, probably a bit tacky but hey, working hard or hardly working!
I enjoyed making this piece and need to investigate this further, theres more junk wood I can grab tomorrow so theres no excuse to not try it out.
