Automatic Process: Wind/Tree Drawings.

Inspired by Nevin Aladag's "Traces" video installation and her use of the landscape to create sound, using an automatic process, I decided to explore this concept in my own way, and see what marks were generated from natural elements of the landscape, particularly wind. I attached a pencil to a tree branch and held a sketchbook in place, the wind moved the tree branch and created some unique line art.

The concept was to translate the natural elements of the landscape into something visually coherent, in a sense, the tree was acting as an instrument, the wind a musician that orchestrated its activity. Creating natural landscape notation, that can then be interpreted and transposed into sound, to do this I will need to find software that can translate line and form into sound and/or music.
